Bell Secures Assignments to House Armed Services Committee and House Committee on Oversight and Reform
Today, Representative Wesley Bell (D-Mo.) announced that he has been selected to serve on two high-profile committees in the 119th Congress: the Armed Services Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. These committee assignments position Rep. Bell to play a key role in shaping national defense policy and ensuring government accountability and transparency.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the Oversight Committee,” said Rep. Bell. “These appointments provide an opportunity to strengthen our national security, champion the needs of our servicemembers, and ensure government agencies operate with transparency and accountability. I look forward to working with both my Democratic and Republican colleagues to achieve these critical goals.”
“Rep. Wesley Bell will be an outstanding member of the distinguished House Armed Services and Oversight and Reform Committees in the 119th Congress, and his appointment to these prestigious committees is a true reflection of his exceptional talents and strong leadership in Missouri and beyond. Over the course of the next two years, this committee will take up incredibly important work on behalf of the American people, and I look forward to seeing all Rep. Bell accomplishes as we work together to seek common ground for the common good,” said Assistant Democratic Leader Joe Neguse.
The House Armed Services Committee oversees the Department of Defense, military operations, and national security, while the Oversight and Government Reform Committee is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has authority to investigate the subjects within the Committee’s legislative jurisdiction as well as “any matter” within the jurisdiction of the other standing House Committees. Rep. Bell’s assignments reflect his commitment to ensuring a strong and accountable government that serves the public interest.
