Save on Food:
- SNAP (Food Stamps): Helps low-income households afford groceries.
- WIC (Women, Infants & Children): Nutrition support for pregnant/postpartum women, infants, and children under age 5.
- Groceries on a budget: Find tools and resources from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that may help you save on your groceries.
- Shop Simple with MyPlate App: The U.S. Department of Agriculture's smartphone app can help you find healthy food savings in your area and prepare budget-friendly meals.
- Food Assistance: Hardworking St. Louisans may qualify for resources to help put food on the table. This link can connect you with a directory of initiatives that may help you find what best fits your situation.
- Participate in the Senior Nutrition Program: The St. Louis Area agency on Aging (SLAAA) provides home delivered meals and congregate meals (served at senior centers) to seniors 60 yrs and older and to persons with disabilities 18- 59 years.
- Missouri Dept. of Health & Senior Services: Good nutrition is vital to good health. Community food programs help provide meals and nutrition information to Missourians who meet specific qualifications.
Save on Healthcare:
- Medicaid: Helps eligible individuals receive health coverage.
- CHIP / ACA Marketplace Subsidies: Lower health insurance costs for eligible households.
- Missouri MO HealthNet (Medicaid Expansion): Covers medical, prescriptions, mental health & long-term care for eligible adults.
- Missouri Low-Cost Child Care Subsidy: Helps working families afford licensed child care.
- Missouri Senior & Disability Benefits Portal: Central access to all state programs for seniors and people with disabilities.
Save on Housing / Utililties
- St. Louis Housing Authority: Section 8 vouchers, public housing, rental assistance within MO-01.
- Metro Transit Reduced Fare Programs: Discounted bus and rail fares for seniors, persons with disabilities & youth.
Help with Groceries - LIHEAP — Heating/Cooling Assistance: Helps pay electric, gas, or fuel bills and prevents shut-offs.
- HUD Housing Assistance & Vouchers: Rent support, public housing, and homeowner counseling.

- Lower your utility bills by utilizing the DOE’s Energy Savings Hub for energy saving tips, rebates, and tax credits to improve home energy efficiency.
- Utilize the CFPB’s information on credit cards to better understand cards for your situation. They also have a guide to stop mystery fees on your card.
- USA.gov also has information on getting help with utility, phone, and internet bills.
- Ameren: If any constituents – including federal employees – are having trouble with energy bills, we encourage them to reach out as soon as they know they need help. Missouri customers can use our phone line (800-552-7583) or the website www.Ameren.com/Assistance.
- Missouri Property Tax Credit (Senior / Disability): Refunds a portion of rent/property tax for qualifying seniors & disabled adults.
