STATEMENT: Bell Votes NO on Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371

November 12, 2025

Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S. Representative Wesley Bell (D-Mo.) released the following statement following his NO vote on the Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veteran Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026:

“I grew up seeing what it means when families in St. Louis can’t afford to see a doctor,” said Rep. Bell. “Health care isn’t something you can put off—and neither is this fight. I couldn’t support a deal that turns its back on working families and leaves millions facing higher costs. If Congress fails to act, premiums will rise astronomically, and families across St. Louis will be forced to go without coverage. Republicans now own those consequences, and the pain that comes with them.”
