STATEMENT: Rep. Bell Releases Statement Following Devastating St. Louis Storms

Washington, D.C.— Today, Representative Wesley Bell (D-Mo.) released the following statement in response to deadly storms that devastated the St. Louis region:

“Yesterday’s storms hit St. Louis hard—at least five lives have been lost, homes torn apart, roads blocked, and thousands still without power. I’m heartbroken for the families who lost loved ones. For the folks waking up to damage they can’t afford to fix. For the people still waiting on the lights to come back on. This is a heavy moment for our region, and we’re feeling it together.

I want to thank our first responders, utility workers, and neighbors who jumped into action to help. My team has been in touch with local officials, state and federal partners, and we’re ready to do everything we can to support the response and the recovery.

This can’t just be about picking up the pieces—we’ve got to make our infrastructure stronger, invest in resilience, and make sure our communities are better prepared for the next time.

To everyone hurting right now: you’re not alone. We're in this together, we’ll clean up together, and we’ll fight together to make sure St. Louis comes back stronger than ever.”
